first week!

My first week here is almost over! This is the view from the window in my room. (and some of the only sun we’ve had so far.) Most of the week has been orientation – workshops, training, tours etc. Today we revamped the compost heaps. I’m pretty proud of how they look & excited to see what happens to them over time. We’ve also done some greenhouse maintenance – all the seedlings are still there because it’s still too cold & wet to put them in the ground. There’s everything from broccoli & leeks to eggplant and various kinds of tomatoes, peppers & herbs. The wind has been so strong it blew some of the glass panes right out of the roof frame. Luckily they always fall outside of the greenhouse.

Once the rain clears up I’ll be exploring the property more and taking lots of pictures. The place is huge, with lots of cool projects happening that I’m looking forward to learning more about.

PS: photos in the body of a post have to be pretty small, but you can click on them to see the full size image
