the swing of things

well, this week was our first real harvest week: 2 pickup days, 250+ shares, and even more people coming to pick them up!

Jake and I were the first team to run the farm store. We rotate jobs weekly, so this coming week we’ll be out in the fields harvesting while 2 of the other interns take care of the store. It’s amazing how much food we got from the fields, and how they’re bursting at the seams now after such a slow start in the spring! People were very happy to finally be getting their first taste of the season’s harvest.

This weekend has been beautiful. Sally and I went across the road and hiked through the forest along the creek yesterday. It’s wild on that side of the highway – there are many animal tracks and wild flowers. It’s amazing that we have this so close to the city.
